LAUREL - James E. Rebman, age 69, of Laurel, departed from this life and went to his heavenly home on Jan. 8, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born in Wilmington, on Nov. 5, 1941, son of the late Edward Rebman and Ethel Denver Rebman. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Salvatrice (Sally) Lombardo Rebman. He is survived by his sons, John (Karen) and Steven; daughter, Michelle Layton (Jerry). He loved and cherished his grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Shawn and William. Mr. Rebman served honorably in the US Army for three years and retired from New England Telephone after twenty-five years of service. He was a dynamic person and in addition to his many skills was one of the most respected Taxidermist in Vermont, entertained thousands as a part time Magician. Many of his shows were held annually at the Laurel Elementary School. He also loved woodworking and filled his home with furniture of his own making as well as for his family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing on a regular basis. In the last few years of his life he took up painting landscapes and wildlife in oil, but most of all he was a well-loved husband and father, and he was widely respected by his friends and neighbors. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 532 Stein Hwy, Seaford. Friends may call at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St, Seaford, Thursday evening from 6 to 8. Burial will be in Spring Hill Memory Gardens, Salisbury, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Delaware Hospice Inc, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963
