FELTON - James E. Oldham passed away at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018. He was the son of the late, James S. and Jane Oldham.
James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War; following his time in the Army, James worked as a bricklayer for Union Local 1.
James enjoyed photography, working on computers, being outside, and harness racing. He was a very determined person that would not give up on a project until it was complete. Not one to ask for help himself, he always checked on family to make sure they were okay. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Margaret H. Oldham; son, Jeffrey Oldham; daughter, Susan Hyatt; sister, Jane Patton; and sister-in-law, Alice Sipple.
He is survived by his sons, James P Oldham, Stephen W. (Kathy) Oldham, Scott L. (Debbie) Oldham; Wayne (Barbara) Walters, and Ronald (Shirley) Walters; close nephew, Charles "Bud" Sipple; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
A visitation for family and friends will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street Columbus, OH 43214 or online at www.heart.org.
Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc., Harrington. Please visit us at ww.melvinfuneralhome.com to sign the condolence book.
