James E. Hayes, 82
MILFORD - James E. Hayes, of Milford, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008, in his daughter's home where he had been residing. He was 82.
Mr. Hayes was born on Dec. 20, 1925, in Milford, son of the late Robert and Serena (Hobbs) Hayes.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during World War II.
Mr. Hayes was employed as a crane operator and in maintenance for 60 years with J.H. Wilkerson & Son in Milford. He retired in 2007.
He applied his mechanical talents when needed, helping Harold Bunting keep his stock cars in racing condition.
Mr. Hayes enjoyed watching NASCAR and football and was a special fan of Bill Elliott on the track and the Dallas Cowboys on the field.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Jane Hayes; a son, James Robert Hayes of Smyrna; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and David Clendaniel of Milford; two brothers, John "Jack" Hayes and Gilbert Hayes, both of Milford; two grandchildren and their spouses, Tracy and Dale Arcangeli and Duane and Alisha Clendaniel; and two great-grandchildren, Leia Clendaniel and Kara Clendaniel.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Services will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be held in Henlopen Memorial Park, Del. 1, Milton.
