James C. Wright, 87 SMYRNA - James C. Wright, of Smyrna, passed away at home Wednesday, July 16, 2008, and is now at peace with his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia Cochran Wright. He was 87. Mr. Wright was born June 2, 1921, in Bradshaw, W.Va., the son of the late Matthew L. and Christine Roop Wright. He worked in the coal mines of West Virginia for 38 years and following retirement moved to Delaware to be closer to his family. Mr. Wright was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wright; and a sister, Louise Maddow. He is survived by three sons, Ronald E. Wright of Smyrna and David J. and John H. Wright, both of Hampton, Va.; a daughter, Patricia Rose with whom he lived; a brother, Earl Wright of Warren, Mich.; a sister, Goldie Sutherland of Bluefield, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Cancer Society of Delaware, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
