James C. McMillan

James C. McMillan, 71

SMYRNA - James C. McMillan of Smyrna passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007, in his home. He was 71.

Mr. McMillan was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Paisley, Scotland, son of the late Samuel and Jean Cope McMillan.

He came to America in September 1956 and worked as a machinist for the DuPont Company Experimental Station in Wilmington for 26 years. He also worked as a project manager for Denco in Wilmington.

He served in the United States Army.

Mr. McMillan was made a 32nd Degree Mason in Wilmington, Del., and was a member of Masonic Lodge Garthland St. Winnoch 205 in Lochwinnoch, Scotland.

He was a drummer in a Scottish pipe and drum band.

Mr. McMillan enjoyed painting, sketching, classical music, fishing, watching tennis and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Beauletta "Babs" Adams McMillan; three sons, James Bruce McMillan at home, David Scott McMillan and his wife, Jennifer, of Newark and Kenneth McMillan and his wife, Karen, of Newark; a sister, Jean Simpson of Scotland; five grandchildren, Felicia, Amber, Sarah, Jillian and Tristan McMillan; and a special friend, Theresa.

Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
