James A. Fanceschini Sr., 85 DOVER - James A. Franceschini Sr., of Dover, died Sunday, July 19, 2008, at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 85. Born in Wilmington he had spent his formidable years in Pennsgrove, N.J. He had served as a 1st Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars. Upon his discharge from active duty in 1969, he moved to Dover. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Franceschini enjoyed sports in his leisure time. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elpedia Franceschini along with his sister Louise Ulissi. Mr. Franceschini is survived by his wife of 48 years, Helen E. Thomas Franceschini of Dover; a daughter, Karen L. Snow of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sons, James A. Jr. and his wife Lisa M. Franceschini or Arnold, Md. and Thomas C. and Cathy Franceschini of Newark; two brothers, George and Carolyn Franceschini or Acadia, Calif. and Donald and Ann Marie Franceschini of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Matthew D., Emily K., and Melissa E. Snow, and Heather G., Rachel R., James A. III, and Anthony T. Franceschini. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, S. State St., Dover. Military honors and burial will be Aug. 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Family suggests donation in his memory to the USO Dept. WS, P.O. Box 96860, Washington DC, 20090. Arrangements by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc., Dover.
