LEWES - Jacob Rodney Holland, (Jake-Moonie-Spike-Joonie) passed away on July 3, 2015 at Beebe Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Joonie, as he was fondly called, was born February 4, 1952 in Lewes to Thelma Maull Holland and the late Jacob W. Holland. Jake attended and graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1970. He was dedicated to his Alma Mater, that he returned and became a loyal district employee on the custodial staff, retiring in 2010 after 22 years of service. Jake had many names by which he was called, but the people who loved and knew him would agree it didn't matter what he was called because he was a friend to all. Jake loved and adored his grandsons and spending quality time with his mother; after retirement he became his mother's full-time caregiver. Joonie enjoyed playing basketball, horseshoes, swimming, and playing cards. Without a doubt, Jake will be sorely missed by all. He is survived by his mother, Thelma M. Holland of Lewes, wife, Irene M. Holland of Lewes; daughter, Fallon Holland of Lewes; son, Avery & wife, Donnika Harmon of Delmar, Md.; four grandsons, Dre Harmon of Rehoboth, Jediah Custis of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Jacob G. & Bryan Holland-White of Lewes; four granddaughters, Amari Harmon of Berlin, Md., Asia Harmon of Delmar, Md.; Akeyna Harmon of Lewes, and Aniya Harmon of Millsboro. Services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM at St. George AME Church, 317 Park Ave. Lewes, Del. 19958. Friends may call at the church 2 hours before service and Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm.
