DOVER - J. Russell Virdin, Jr., "Russ" died Jan. 14, 2016 in Bay Health Medical Center at Kent. Russ was born on Oct. 12, 1935 in Dover, son of the late John Russell Virdin, Sr. and Ada Marie Rosengren Virdin. He was raised in Magnolia and after graduating he enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving from 1958 to 1961. Russ began his 37 year career with the U.S. Postal Service in Dover as a letter carrier, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed bowling. Russ is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anne Myers Virdin; children, Libby King (Lyndon) of Elkton, MD and John O. Virdin (Lisa) of Dover; three grandchildren, Jaime Marshall, Colin Antes and John R. Virdin, III and three great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Isabella and James Marshall. A private graveside service will be held in St. James Cemetery, Worton, MD. Arrangements by Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
