GREENWOOD - Iva Jean Freeman passed away at home on May 19th, 2016. Iva was born in McDowell County, W.Va. on Oct. 18, 1941. She lived in Delaware most of her adult life. She was a member of Berean Community Church for over 27 years. She volunteered with the Friends of the Library in Greenwood helping in many ways, mostly with fundraising. The biggest project being the funds raised for the new library in Greenwood. This required countless bake sales of which she always participated. Her friends and family can attest to her wonderful cooking and baking skills. She very much enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Greenwood Cheer Center and getting together with her high school classmates. The Lord, her family and friends were the joy of her life. Iva was preceded in death by her mother, Edith L. Ivory and stepfather, Theodore Ivory, of Greenwood; her father, Curtis Freeman, of Skygusty, W.Va.; niece, Briana Freeman, of Denton, Md. She is survived by her two children, Sherry L. Peters and her husband, Hans; Robert L. Porter and his wife, Leesa Mereider; six grandchildren, Garrett (Jessica) Peters, Matthew (Tracey) Peters, Hans and Rachel Peters, Justin Porter and Michael (Andrea) Screpesi; two great-grandchildren, Caroline Peters and Evelyn Peters; her brothers, Daniel M. Freeman and his wife, Marie, Walter E. (Dickie) Ivory, William G. Ivory and his wife, Sherry; nephews, Shayne Ivory and Ryan Freeman; and nieces, Tina Freeman and Ashley Ivory. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Berean Community Church, 2709 Milford Harrington Hwy, Milford, DE, 19963. Viewing will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 pm. Burial will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood, with fellowship meal to follow at Berean Community Church. Arrangements are in the care of Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
