Irene Bogino Marsh died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at the age of 90 years and 3 months. She was born on Oct. 9, 1928 to the late Mario and Francis Bogino in Avon, Conn. where she lived, married and began to raise a family. Irene also had one cherished older sister, the late Eleanor MacArthur.
Irene was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover where she attended Mass regularly each weekend and, following full retirement, also attended daily Mass during the Holy seasons of Lent and Easter. Irene knew her salvation in the Lord Jesus and rejoices in the fact that, today, she is in His more immediate presence.
Primarily a homemaker for many years, after moving to Delaware in 1972 Irene began to work outside the home, first at Cook and Smith Florists and then a long employment relationship at Leggett's Department Store as a sales representative and buyer that she enjoyed for many years. After ending that career yet still desiring to work, Irene worked for Babola Farms in the floral shop. As all know, Irene had an eye for design evidenced in the clothes she wore and the floral arrangements she crafted.
Most important to Irene's long life was the joy she found through a loving and caring relationship with family and friends. She brought joy to everyone. Irene was the proud mother of Nancy Nonne and Gary Marsh and daughter-in-law Linda; delighted grandmother of Christina Moore and partner Walt Grant, Louis Henschel, Kevin Marsh and wife Colleen, and Sarah Ulshafer and husband Rob; giddy great-grandmother of Cameron, Ian, Corey, Terralyn, and Leila; and thrilled great-great-grandmother of Khloe and Maya. Each will long remember and greatly miss her cherished hugs, warm kisses, cooking holiday meals together, and receiving her frequent notes and cards. Irene had so many close friends with whom she shared phone calls, cards and letters, trips, movies, meals, and volunteer service through the Kent General Hospital Junior Board, YMCA, and ARC of DE. Among Irene's closest friends were also her first cousins, Beverly Firnhaber and Loretta Fahey.
A celebration of life Memorial Service and Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call at the Church to extend sympathy to the family beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment will be private at St. Ann's Catholic Church Cemetery in Avon, Conn. at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the general fund of Holy Cross Catholic Church or ARC of DE.
