Howard 'Butch' B. Carter III, 61
MIDDLETOWN - Howard "Butch" B. Carter III of Middletown went to rest on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, in his home, with his loving family at his side after a two-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 61.
Born in Camden, N.J., he was the son of the late Howard and Viola (Bates) Carter.
Raised in Middletown, he was a graduate of Middletown High School.
Mr. Carter worked for Adel Construction. Following his retirement from Adel, he went to work for the Town of Middletown as an equipment operator where he had worked until his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Ann Kaiser and her husband, Billy of Middletown; a son, Howard B. Carter IV and his girlfriend, Cricket Neall of Middletown; two grandchildren who were the love of his life, Makenzi and Kolin of Middletown; a brother, Charles Carter and his wife, Suzanne of Townsend; two sisters, Ella Patterson of New Jersey and Betty Piser and her husband, George, of Middletown; his caregivers, Phyllis Wallis and Jennifer Hackney, nieces of Mr. Carter; as well as his son's girlfriend, Cricket Neall.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m.
Interment will be in Forest Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggestions memorial contributions in Mr. Carter's memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Headquarters, 2141 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 7000, El Sequnda, CA 90245; or to the Jean Birch MOT Senior Center, 300 S. Scott St., Middletown, DE 19709.
