DOVER - Homer Harding Stayton passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at home. Mr. Stayton was born March 21, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Homer H. Stayton and Emma Lindale Stayton Lank. He served in the USAAC during WWII, as a bombardier in B-29 aircraft, leaving with the rank of 1st Lt. After the military, he completed his college education receiving his Engineering Degree in chemistry from the University of Delaware and was employed by Humble Oil (Exxon) as a Chemical Engineer. He retired from Exxon in 1982. Through the years he enjoyed many hobbies, from tropical fish, photography, to playing golf. His greatest joy was his family. He will be missed by many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bell Stayton, in 2010. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Rivetto and her husband, Larry, of Troy, Mich., Donna Pipeling and her husband, Dan, of Dunkirk, Md., and Sandra Stayton-Meyers and her husband, Al, of Keansburg, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior.
