FELTON - HMC Donald D. Bloom Sr., USN retired, passed away peacefully, Tues., Nov. 10, 2015 at home. Mr. Bloom was born in Altoona, Pa. He served in the United States Navy, retiring after 20 years. After his military career, he went to work for the State of Delaware, Department of Health at the Well Baby Clinic and retired in 1990, after 22 years. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling, gardening, the outdoors, especially fishing and crabbing. Mr. Bloom was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed coaching Camden-Wyoming Little League Baseball. Mr. Bloom is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Bloom Blake; and step-father, Charles Blake; brother, Richard Bloom; sister, Jane Sparks; and grandson, Clint McHale. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice G. Bloom of Felton; children, Robin Bloom of Chandler, Ariz., Michael Bloom and his wife Shirl of Felton, Kelly McHale of Chandler, Ariz., Deb Brown and her husband Lee of Dover, Donald D. Bloom, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Felton; grandchildren, Czar, Josh, Matt, Justy, Desi, Chels and Shi; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Noel, Clayton and Elias. A visitation will be held from 10:30 ~ 12, Thurs., Nov. 12, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 522 Main Street, Marydel, MD, 21649, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be held with full military honors, 10AM, Mon., Nov. 16, 2015 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
