Hilda Irene Bowden

Hilda Irene Bowden, 89 MILLSBORO -Hilda Irene Bowden, age 89, of Millsboro, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She had resided at Atlantic Shores Rehab and Health Center in Millsboro since December 2004. She was born April 17, 1921, in Millsboro daughter of the late Harry Revell and Georgiana Timmons Revell. She was the wife of the late Paul James Bowden for 61 years, who passed away in 2000. A son, Arthur Bowden of Selbyville, also preceded her in death in 2006. Irene was a homemaker and her warmth and caring were the traits that made people proud to know her, including her family, friends, church community and civic organizations. She was a lifetime member of the Indian River Ladies Auxiliary since 1984, a life member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, a senior citizen of Millsboro, the American Diabetes Association and the Sussex Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Oak Orchard Community Church. She is survived by her son, Michael Bowden and his wife Joyce; four daughters, Marcel Bradford and her husband Bill, Vanessa Mercadante and her husband Jerry, all of Millsboro, Paulette Tindall and her husband Joe of Delmar, Kimberly Bunitsky of Avondale, Pa.; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Bowden of Selbyville. She was the family matriarch and was delighted with her six grandchildren, Arthur, Jr., Ryan, Crystal, Michael, Andy and Melody. She also loved her great grandchildren, Darren, Ryan II, Katelyn, Hadleigh, Seth, and a host of nieces and nephews without bounds. Pastor J. Allen Miller will be officiating at a graveside service for Irene at Millsboro Cemetery on Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
