Hilda B. Cox, 76

SMYRNA - Hilda B. Cox, of Smyrna, passed away at home, Sunday, June 8, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76.

Mrs. Cox was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Townsend, the daughter of the late Lee C. Daniels Jr. and Hilda (Cummins) Daniels.

She worked as a substitute mail carrier for several years before retirement.

Mrs. Cox was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8801 Ladies Auxiliary and in 1974 was the Delaware Women's Bowling Champion.

She enjoyed camping in Chincoteague, Va., with her family and friends, doing puzzles, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, William T. Cox Jr.; two sons, William L. Cox Sr. and his wife Sandra of Warwick, Pa., and David E. Cox and his wife Charlene of Clayton; a daughter, Helen R. Lewis and her husband Mark of Clayton; two brothers, Lee C. Daniels and his wife Elinor of Clayton and Ralph C. Daniels and his wife Shirley of Smyrna; two sisters, Helen Butler and her husband Ernest of Middletown, and Nellie Hand and her husband Willis of Dover; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Suite 1217, Newark, DE 19713; or to Daybreak United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 74, Smyrna, DE 19977.
