Herman W. Sullivan

SMYRNA - Herman W. "Gil" Sullivan passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. Herman was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Smyrna. He was the son of the late Herman Wendell Gillis and Elsie L. Gillis. He was a veteran of United States Air Force and honorably discharged. He retired from Dan River Textiles after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Thomas D. Clayton School Alumni and Friends Association of Smyrna, and the William Henry High School Alumni Association of Dover. Herman was a member of Jehovah Witness, Central Division. He leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years, Lillie Irby Sullivan; two sons, Kenneth (Carolyn) Sullivan of Simpsonville, S.C., and Michael (Lotita) Sullivan of Piedmont, S.C.; two daughters, Dietra Blackmon of Mauldin, S.C., Kim (Louis) Hawkins of Greenville, S.C.; three sisters, Ruth Guy and Patricia (William) Clifton of Smyrna, Jacqueline (John) Sullivan of Dover; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one aunt, Elizabeth Richardson of Smyrna; and a host of friends and relatives. Arrangements were handled by Watkins, Garrett, and Woods Mortuary in Greenville, S.C.
