Herman B. Mears CMSgt. USAF Ret., 92 DOVER - Herman B. Mears CMSgt. USAF Ret., 92, of Dover, died June 17, 2010. Born in Rosemont, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry B. and Sarah Peddnick Mears. Mr. Mears was a veteran of WW-II, Korea and Vietnam and retired as a Chief Master Sgt. from the US Air Force in 1971 after 34 years of service. Upon his retirement from the Military he was in charge of Maintenance Services at the Allen Frear Federal Building in Dover for 17 years. He was a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans, The Veterans of Foreign Wars and The Air Force Sergeants Association. He was a Past member of the BPO Elks in Dover. Mr. Mears was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Shingle. Mr. Mears is survived by his loving wife, Dee Jenkins Mears of Dover; his daughter, Pamela Watkins and her husband Ken of Dover; his son John Mears and wife Corey of Wyoming; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call Tuesday, June 22, 2010 starting at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso 1175 S. State St., Dover, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Donations in his memory may be made to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963. Condolences and Guest Book Signings may be made via www.ambruso.com.
