Herbert Semans

MAGNOLIA - Herbert (Herb) Semans, Sr. passed away on May 28, 2018 at home in Magnolia surrounded by his loving family. He was the 11th of 11 children, born on Feb. 4, 1932 in Magnolia to Harry and Bessie Semans.
Herb worked for the U.S. Postal Service where he was the Postmaster for Magnolia and retired after 27 years of service.
He was a life member of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company for 63 years where he held many offices including president and fire chief .
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris C. Semans of 66 years; and his brothers, Louis, John, George, Edward, Fred, Charles; and his sisters, Florence, Hannabel, and Virginia; and his nephew, Francis.
Herb lived in Magnolia for most of his life and is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Herb Jr. and Gail, Ken and Janice, Ed and Donna; his ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Jane Hobbs; and many, many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Sharon Hill Memorial Park.
Many special thanks to nursing staff of Delaware Hospice and the home health aides from Griswold Home Care for all their kindness and professional care given to our dad.
And with much gratitude we would like to express our appreciation to the members of the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and the Ladies Auxiliary for their support and friendship.
