(nee Bock) Dover - Helen Modzelewski, of Dover, DE, formerly of Lawrenceville, NJ passed away July 17 at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital. Helen was born on August 15, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Anna and Joseph Bock of Trenton, NJ and sister of the late Joseph Bock. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Eugene J. Modzelewski, Sr. Helen was a dedicated wife and mother who supported her husband's career. Over the years she took tremendous pride in her faith, their home, entertaining, and her Polish heritage through sharing recipes and traditions with family and friends. Most recently, Helen resided at Heritage Assisted Living in Dover, DE and was an active member of their community. She enjoyed her membership in the Red Hat Society and participating in their monthly gatherings. Over the last two years she contributed to several charitable organizations, most recently crocheting 100 scarves to be donated to the local women's shelter and knitting blankets for babies at the local hospitals. Her hobbies were socializing with her many friends at Heritage, bingo, and trips to Dover Downs. Helen will be lovingly missed and dearly remembered by her three sons and "daughters," Eugene (and wife Wendy) of Magnolia, DE; Kenneth (and wife Janet) of Ponce Inlet, FL; and Gerald (and wife Lora) of Landenberg, PA. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Laura Beth, Keith, Kendra, and Jordan, and her great-grandson, Shane. Helen cherished her time living at Heritage and her absence there will be felt by the many friends she made there. Her only regret was not being able to say a proper goodbye and letting the residents and staff know how important they were to her. The funeral will be held Wednesday, july 23rd, at 10:30am from the WINOWICZ FUNERAL CHAPEL, 865 Brunswick Avenue, North Trenton. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 am in St. Hedwig's Church with Rev. Dr. Jacek W. Labinski presiding. Burial will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Hamilton Twp. Calling hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 am to 10:30 am at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice Foundation; 4755 Ogletown-Stanton Road; Newark, DE 19718 or St. Hedwig's Church; 872 Brunswick Avenue; Trenton, NJ 08638.
