SMYRNA - Helen McQuail Armstrong, born Dec. 8, 1948 in Dover, to John Hewitt McQuail and Helen Walley McQuail, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on Feb. 11, 2018.
She lived 69 years, and succumbed to complications, after bravely fighting cancer the last year. Her tenacity and passion for life will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.
Who had worked 30 years in the banking business; most recently at M&T. She retired in 2016 and travelled the western states with her husband, Larry. A proud mother of five children; she always encouraged them to be their best with the words, "check, check and double check." Fond memories include Helen spending time with her family and eight grandchildren, on the Family Farm. Helen's other passions included gardening, genealogy, sewing, her mules and dogs. Although she had several interests, she strongly encouraged others to follow their dreams.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, A. Larry Armstrong Sr.; and sister, Joanna Ennis McQuail.
Helen is survived by five children, Kimberly J. Armstrong and her fiancée Matthew S. Tower, Anna M. Armstrong and her fiancée James L. Glancey, A. Larry Armstrong Jr. and his wife Kathleen M.
