Helen L. Austin, 91 TOWNSEND - Helen L. Austin, 91, lifelong resident of Townsend, passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Born on Feb, 14, 1919, in Townsend, she was the daughter of the late Ida L. (Carey) and Harry Poore. Mrs. Austin worked as a nurse's aid for the State of Delaware for a number of years. She enjoyed cooking and her kitchen was always open to everyone. Helen especially loved family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Samuel T. Austin; a grandson, James Austin Jr.; and a half-brother, Lennie Poore. Helen leaves many wonderful memories to her two sons, James S. Austin and Larry W. Austin Sr., both of Townsend; two daughters, Betty David of Odessa, and Sandy Carty of Townsend; four half sisters; five half brothers, nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a very close friend and dear neighbor, Hazel Watson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 26, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where family and friends may visit Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery. On-line condolences may be sent to www.daniels-hutchison.com.
