Helen Armstrong Winans, age 92, died Jun. 13, 2017, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Baltimore, Md.
Born in Paulsboro, N.J., in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alice (Nutt) and Harry Armstrong. In 1943 she graduated from Glassboro High School then worked as a telephone operator where she met and married the love of her life, Donald Alan Winans. Don preceded her in death.
Together she and Don raised four children who will miss her love and sense of humor: Barbara Jo (and partner Joli), Donald Winans (and wife Annie), Thomas Winans (and wife Kate), and Doris Winans. She will also be missed by grandchildren, Jake and Hannah Winans, and Liam and Layla Sullivan; sister, Barbara Armstrong Andrews; brother, George H. Armstong; and cousin, Margy Bill Gilkey.
She enjoyed a good game of bridge with friends and attended Episcopal churches in each town she lived in: Glassboro, N.J.; Medfield, Mass.; and Dover, Del.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jun. 19, 2017, at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Glassboro, N.J., with internment in the adjoining cemetery. Contributions may be in Helen's memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Camden, Del.
