Hazel J. Steele, 80

MILTON - Hazel J. Steele of Milton died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, in her home. She was 80.

Mrs. Steele was born in Selbyville, daughter of the late Thomas and Hallie (Lynch) Gray.

She worked as a waitress for the Avenue Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach for many years.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Steele was a member of Whites Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph T. Steele.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles and Judi Townsend of Newark, Thomas and Galena Townsend of Parker, Colo. and Michael and Margo Townsend of Roxana; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Patricia and Wayne McGee and Mary Jane and Darryl Wharton, all of Roxana, Estelle and Tony Murray and Sandra and David Edwards, all of Milton; a stepdaughter, Judith Webb and her husband, Fletcher of Ellendale; 16 grandchildren, Ronnie Townsend, Michael Townsend, Eddie Townsend, Brian Townsend, Brett Townsend, Brandon Townsend, Tracey Townsend, Crystal Lynch, Meghan Wharton, Roxanne Murray, Thomas Murray, Cailyn Edwards, Keith Webb, Jeff Webb and Judy Reed; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
