Harvey G. Shockley Jr., 82 MAGNOLIA - Harvey G. Shockley Jr., of Magnolia, died peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital, Elsmere. He was 82. Mr. Shockley was born on Oct. 7, 1925, near Magnolia, son of the late Harvey G. Shockley Sr. and Mary Shahan Shockley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gene K. Shockley; and heartfelt son, Jack David Wardwell Sr. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Shockley worked as a stone and brick masonry contractor for over fifty years. He was also a tour guide and night watchman at the John Dickinson Plantation. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Shockley was also an avid historian, enjoyed doing restoration projects, archeology, and was a member of Eckancar. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Roe Shockley of Magnolia; sons, Bruce E. and his wife Bonnie Kaye Shockley of Frederica, and Paul R. and his wife Alice V. Shockley of Magnolia; four grandchildren, Shelly Lefort of Harrington, Kassandra and Paul Shockley Jr. of Magnolia and heartfelt grandson, Jack David Wardwell Jr. of Magnolia; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, and Jake Lefort of Harrington. Friends may call from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday in the Trader Funeral Home 12 Lotus St., Dover. Services for Mr. Shockley will be at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. The family suggests donations to the Veterans Hospital, Elsmere.
