BOONE, N.C. - Mr. Harry "Alan" Pearce, age 52, of 997 Vanderpool Road, Vilas, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 28, 2010, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Mr. Pearce was born Jan. 7, 1958, in Wilmington, Del., a son of Jean Brittingham Layton and the late Harry D. "Jerry" Pearce. Alan was a pastor and landscaper. He was a 1995 graduate of Regent University, in Va., receiving his masters degree in Practical Theology. Alan was Associate Pastor of Oak Hill Bible Church in Clifton Forge, Va., and a member of Alliance Bible Fellowship in Boone. Mr. Pearce is survived by his wife, Debbie Pearce of the home; four sons, M. Alan Pearce of Winston-Salem, Joshua "Aaron" Pearce, James "Brandon" Pearce, and Jonathan E. Pearce, all of the home; his mother, Jean B. Layton of Milford, Del., and one brother, Gregory J. Pearce of Annapolis, Md. Funeral services for Mr. Harry "Alan" Pearce were conducted Sunday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2011, at 2 p.m., at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Milford, Del. Officiating was Reverend Roger Bush. Burial followed in Barratts Chapel Cemetery in Frederica, Del. A celebration of Alan's life was conducted Thursday evening, Jan. 6, 2011, at 7 p.m., at Alliance Bible Fellowship in Boone. Pastor Scott Andrews, Pastor Scott Burns, and Reverend Roger Bush officiated.
