Harry L. Gordon

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Harry L. "Shorty" Gordon, 75, of Chestertown, died Aug. 11, 2010, in his home that he built in 1965. Mr. Gordon was born on Aug. 20, 1934, in Wilmington, Del., son of Catherine Lipscomb Gordon and the late Merritt Gordon. He was raised in Kennedyville and a 1952 graduate of Chestertown High School. He served with the U.S Army as a medical corpsman from 1957 to 1963. He had worked for Walter S. Dickerson as a housepainter for 20 years and later painted on his own. Harry was a member of the Chestertown Elks Lodge 2474 since 1975 where he was past Exalted Ruler in 1982 and 1983. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Along with his father he was preceded in death by his wife of 8 years, Jesse W. Gordon in 1987; and his grandmother, Della Bramble Lipscomb in 1993. Harry is survived by his mother, Catherine Gordon of Chestertown; his daughter, Mary Katherine Gordon of Chestertown; his son, Richard Kenny Gordon and his wife Pam of Greensboro, Md.; his brother, Richard E. Gordon of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Christina and Michael Gordon John Patrick Leonard II, and Jeffrey Neal Siem; and two nieces, Tammy Forrester and Michele Gsell. A funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Chester River Home Care & Hospice, 6602 Church Hill Rd. Chestertown, MD 21620 or the Kent County Relay for Life, P.O.
