CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Harriett Dillon (Parker) Goodman of Chestertown died Saturday, March 31, 2007, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 89.
Mrs. Goodman was born in Dillon, S.C., the county and town named after her great-grandfather, J.W. Dillon, who granted the land. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Jeddie (David) Parker, and wife of the late Roy Goodman.
She was a 1938 graduate of Winthrop College, earning a bachelor of science degree in business education.
Mrs. Goodman worked as a business education school teacher in South Carolina. Following her marriage to Roy Goodman, a World War I veteran, she resided in Lynch. She also worked with the Kent County Department of Social Services, the Kent County Board of Education and Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chestertown, the E.G.A. of America, and served as past president of the Ladies Auxiliary for both the Frank M. Jarman American Legion Post 36 in Chestertown and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 652 in Millington.
Mrs. Goodman was an accomplished needlework artist.
She is survived by a sister, Jeddie P. DeCoursey of Chestertown, along with her nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kent and Queen Anne's Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 126, Chestertown, MD 21620; or to a charity of choice.
