Harold Raymond Campbell, 89
DOVER - Harold Raymond Campbell, of Dover, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, in his home. He was 89. Mr. Campbell was born July 26, 1919, in LeRoy, N.Y., to the late Harry James and Mina Bushman Campbell. He was one of six siblings. He served in the United States Army during World War II and stationed in North Africa and Italy. Mr. Campbell worked for Kraft General Foods for 45 years in LeRoy, N.Y., and transferred to Dover in 1964. He volunteered at Delaware Blood Bank and enjoyed Modern Maturity delivering Meals on Wheels. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family, they had traveled to 46 states. Mr. Campbell enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and baseball especially the Philadelphia Phillies. He loved and adored his wife, Mary Lou and even designed and built their house in LeRoy with the help of his wife, it was a four bedroom with a basement and a large workshop connected to the two car garage. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Wayne Campbell in 2005; five siblings, Charles Campbell, Marion Harding, Ruth Hayward, Elizabeth Rumsey and Marjorie Harding. He is survived by his wife of 62 and a half years, Mary Lou Brown Campbell of Dover; three daughters, twins, Janet Lynn Jones and her husband Richard of Frederica, Jane Carol Campbell of Dover, Sandra Lee Allen and husband Joseph Sr. of Manahawkin, N.J.; daughter-in-law, Sharon Campbell of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Lynn Humphries and her husband Randy of Dover, Bruce Campbell and his wife Lorinda of Merrillville, Ind., Cindy Campbell and Joseph Campbell both of Indianapolis, Ind., Michelle Allen Susco and her husband Joseph of Silver Springs, Md., Jennifer Allen and Joseph Allen Jr. both of Manahawkin, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Humphries of Dover, Kenneth Robert Campbell of Merrillville, Ind., and his faithful dog Toby. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, DE 19904. Friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
