Harold I. Jump Sr.

Harold I. Jump Sr., 77

HARRINGTON - Harold I. Jump Sr., of Harrington, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Christiana Medical Center, Newark. He was 77.

Mr. Jump was born June 8, 1930, in Ridgely, Md., son of the late John T. and Mildred (Biddle) Jump.

He worked as a truck driver for Raymond Masten and Masten Trucking, Milford, and then for Red Star Trucking, Bridgeville, for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He was recognized with an award for driving over 1 million miles during his career without an accident.

Mr. Jump was a member of the Teamsters Local 107.

He attended Pilgrim Chapel, Harrington.

Mr. Jump was known and loved by many in his hometown of Harrington, where he lived for a majority of his life. He never met a stranger and was always looking for ways to help someone in a time of need.

He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens fan and loved to engage in conversation about either team. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a devout Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan.

Mr. Jump was a devoted family man and loved to dote over and spoil his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever he had the opportunity.

He also enjoyed camping with his family, especially in the beautiful setting of Lancaster, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Conley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann (Lord) Jump; his son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Lisa Jump of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; a brother, William Jump of Centreville, Md.; a sister, Ann Walters of Hillsboro, Md.; four granddaughters, Lori Ann Roberts and her husband Bryan, Heather Christopher, Jennifer Wells and her husband Mark and Janet Sandstrom; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Chapel, 4792 Milford–Harrington Highway, Harrington, where friends may call after 1 p.m.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Pilgrim Chapel, 4792 Milford–Harrington Highway, Harrington, DE 19952.
