Harold Gene Boulden

Harold Gene Boulden, 80

CECILTON, Md. - Harold Gene Boulden of Cecilton, Md. died April 22, 2007, in his home. He was 80.

Gene was born on Sept. 8, 1926, in Fredericktown, Md., son of the late Harry and Mayme Burris Boulden.

As a young man he played semi-pro baseball in Cecil County and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Boulden was a 31-year employee with the state of Maryland, 21 years with the state police assigned to the North East and Centreville barracks retiring with the rank of sergeant in 1974.

From 1976 to 2002, he was the Chief Court Bailiff for Cecil County.

His memberships include: St. Stephen"s Episcopal Church, Retired Troopers Assoc., he was a master mason with Masonic Lodge No. 125 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7687, both of Chesapeake City, Cecilton Lions Club, where he had served two terms as president, an associate member of Cecilton Vol. Fire Co., and the MOT Seniors.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Ann Boulden; an infant grandson; and great-grandson.

Gene is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joyce Davis Boulden; four children and their spouses, Gale B. Warren and Gary of Middletown, Robert G. Boulden and Pamela, and Kimberly B. Dixon and Larry, all of Cecilton, Md., and Samuel A. Craig and JoAnn of Elkton, Md.; a sister, Jane B. Laws of Camden; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and special friend, Sarah Sanders of Earleville, Md.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen"s Episcopal Church, 10 Glebe Road, Earleville, Md.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Cecilton.

Memorial may be offered to Seasons Hospice, 133 N. Bridge St. Elkton, MD 21921; or St. Stephen"s Cemetery Fund, 10 Glebe Rd. Earleville, MD 21919.
