Brown, 96 HARTLY - Harley Q. "Bud" Brown, 96, of Hartly passed away on Oct. 23, 2014. Mr. Brown had been a truck driver for most of his career, most recently for Rapid Distribution Service, Inc. Bud had also worked for Firestone in Dover for 13 years as manager of the retread shop. Bud loved gardening, playing poker, fishing and NASCAR. He also enjoyed hunting and trapshooting. Mr. Brown was a people person and loved being with people. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; his brothers, Roy, Marvin, Jim and Edward "Pete"; and his sisters, Virginia, Emily and Bertha. Bud is survived by his two children, William C. Brown and his wife Sharon of Hartly and Lynn Harlie Chidester of Pensacola, Fla.; his step son, Dan Watson and his wife Kathy of Wyoming, Del.; two step daughters, Joan O'Dell and her husband John of Baltimore, Md. and Patti Watson of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; three sisters, Flora Rust of Clayton, Del., Ola Ray of Joplin, MO. and Beulah Eskridge of Mardella Springs, Md.; his special friend, Ethel "Dolly" Thomas of Clayton; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, Oct. 30, 2014 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
