Gwendolyn Nile (Kelly) DiPersio, 66

PORT PENN - Gwendolyn Nile (Kelly) DiPersio of Port Penn died after a long battle with cancer Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was 66.

Mrs. DiPersio was born Feb. 29, 1940, in Burdine, Ky., daughter of the late Calvin G. Kelly and Beulah I. (Blevins) Rullo.

She was employed with DuPont Co. at the Glasgow site for 14 years, and was also a gifted cosmetologist.

Mrs. DiPersio was an active member of the former Port Penn Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and served as the United Way representative at DuPont for many years.

A dedicated homemaker throughout her life, she delighted in cooking and baking for family and friends.

Following her retirement, Mrs. DiPersio greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband, and most of all, spoiling her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John J. DiPersio III; and two brothers, Gerale G. Kelly and Joseph F. Rullo.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John J. DiPersio II; two children, Gwen L. Holland of Port Penn and William G. and Susan DiPersio of Smyrna; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gary and Dorothy Rullo of Middletown and Roger J. and Rita Rullo of Middletown; seven grandchildren, John J. DiPersio IV of New Castle, Mandy L. Moore of Elkton, Md., Heather L. Moore of Newark, Lindsey L. DiPersio of Bear, Donald L. Moore II of New Castle, Louisa C. Dadds of Newark and Shannon M. DiPersio of Smyrna; nine great-grandchildren; a niece whom she raised, Vicki L. Roberts of New Castle; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
