Gus C. Dove

DOVER - Gus C. Dove passed away on May 17, 2017 at home.
Mr. Dove was a career USAF Non-Commissioned Officer. His favorite positions included work as a photographer and as an aircraft pneudraulic repair technician. Duty stations took him around the world. He served in Alaska, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, Turkey, England, Germany, Spain, the Azores, Delaware and Virginia. He retired after 20 years as a Technical Sergeant on Sept. 30, 1971, from Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. He began a second career in federal civil service at Dover AFB, working in the Base Commissary and longer, as an airplane mechanic for C-5's. His third career was ownership of a trailer park and several rental units.
Mr. Dove was a member of the Modern Maturity Center. He enjoyed watching westerns on television, his favorite being Gunsmoke. He also liked to watch America's Most Wanted and 48 Hours, and keeping up with current events, watching CNN and Fox News. He could fix or repair anything. Mr. Dove attended Lebanon Wesleyan Church.
Mr. Dove was preceded in death by his wife, Christena H. Dove.
He is survived by daughters, Elizabeth "Becky" Dove of St. Augustine, Fla. and Roxane Huey and her husband, Kenny of Wyoming. Mr. Dove had nine siblings. Three survive: his brother, Alton Dove of Riverton, W.Va.; and his two sisters, Molly Tidwell of Decatur, Ga. and Patricia Dickinson of Olney, Md. He is also survived by granddaughters, Tiffany Jensen and her husband, Ashley, of Dover, and Leah Christena Poulliot, of Los Angeles, Calif. and her father, Jeff Poulliot. Mr. Dove had two great grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Jensen, of Dover.
Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter, (P.A.W.S.), P.O. Box 804, Franklin, WV 26807-0804. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
