HARTLY - Greta L. Iplenski of Fords Corner Road, Hartly, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, after a long and courageous battle against serious health issues. She was 57.
She was born March 12, 1950, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Kenneth E. and Victoria Ruth (Spruill) Stevens.
Greta had a long and rewarding career with the Delaware State Police and retired as Director of Procurement in July 2001, after 31 years of service.
Her strength and courage derived from her great love and devotion for her family.
Greta enjoyed going to Spence"s Bazaar in Dover, traveling, quiet time reading and good humor. She loved her dogs, her Welsh corgi Boomer in particular. She especially enjoyed every moment she could with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Stanley J. Iplenski Jr. of Hartly; a loving daughter and dear friend, Genevieve R. Iplenski of Marydel; a loving sister, Georgia A. Carter of Hartly; a brother, Glenn Stevens of Bedford, Va.; a brother, Gene Stevens of Wilmington; a stepdaughter, Gina Zimmerman of Altus, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Karen Iplenski of Maryland; a stepson, Mike Iplenski of Dover; a stepson, Mark Iplenski of Dover; her grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, Joseph, John, Maureen, Princess Emily, Christopher, and Emily and Christopher"s brother, Tyler; and a great-grandson, Jose; and numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Remembrance services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 102, Wilmington, DE 19801.
