MILFORD - Grace Jeanette Morris, born in 1940 to the late Doris Matilda and Clarence (Babe) William Holland, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 5, 2011. She was the loving wife of late Granville William Morris and mother to five wonderful children who cherished her dearly. Preceding her in death were granddaughter, Janeshee' Ariana Cobbs; and sisters, Catherine Juanita Striverson, Evelyn Helena Jackson, and Surfrain Holland. Grace, a native of Milford, was educated in the Milford and Dover School Districts. Before retiring from work, she was employed as the director of the Lincoln Day Care Center and in the latter years worked as a store associate at the Milford Walmart. She was a friendly outgoing person and very devoted to her family. She took pleasure in serving Jesus-her lord and savior. Grace was a women of integrity and faithful member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Milford, where she served in several ministries including director of the Young People Department, President of the Mabel J. Parker Missionary Society, President of the Dover District Women's Missionary Society, chairperson of the First Episcopal District Memoir Committee, Class Leader as well as served on the E.E. Curry Choir, Gospel Choir, James Hill Ecclesiastical Dancers, Dover District Lay organization, Finance Committee, and taught new members class. During her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, hanging out with her friends, shopping and doing crafts on her downtime. Despite her circumstances, she was a joy to be around---always pleasant and treating others with dignity and respect. Grace truly exemplified the scripture passage-known as the Golden Rule, "so in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." (Matthew 7:12) Her favorite scripture was: But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV). She leaves to cherish her memories, Pat McClain, Clarence and Felicia Morris, Granville and Teresa Morris, Jerome and Pamela Morris, Lucreda and Glenn Cobbs, Michael and Sharon Morris, and Daran Morris. Her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Anthony and Tynaya Brown, Ebony and James Henderson, Kyle and Ricky Cephas, Shaunta and Andre' Olgesby, Joseph Custis, Shanette, Jaleshea, Lauren, Ashley, and Joshua Cobbs, Danielle Morris, Anthony T. Brown (AJ), and Richard Lee (CJ); six great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Tunnell; very special aunts, Mary Hester Shockley and Blanche Crim; lifelong friends Edna Sharp and Joyce Camp; close friend and sister, Daisy Hughes; and special friends, Grace Young, Ethel Bowe, Kevin and Paulette Whaley, Jennifer Wilson, Deborah Henderson, and Althea Long; four brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and caregivers. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Bethel Church, Milford. Pastor Gregory Nelson will officiate.
