SEAFORD - Grace Hufnal Eisenbrey peacefully departed this life on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. Grace was born in Dover, on Feb. 22, 1921. She was the daughter of William T. and Addie Willis Hufnal. On May 25, 1939, she graduated from Dover High School. After graduation, she worked a number of years for the diamond state telephone company as a telephone operator. On May 24, 1942, Grace Married William Howard "Ike" Eisenbrey. Together they had six children, Dennis Eisenbrey, Diane Eisenbrey, Donald Eisenbrey, Deborah Eisenbrey, Beverly Eisenbrey (Deceased) and Judith Eisenbrey. In 1953, Grace and Howard settled in an original Sussex County Farmhouse outside of Seaford. It was then, that Grace established a lifestyle that brought her recognition in the farming community throughout Delaware. For four decades she was best remembered for her hundreds and hundreds of blue and red ribbons won at the Delaware State Fair. These ribbons, as well as money, were awarded for her baked goods, vegetable canning and award winning houseplants. Her first prize pumpkin pie recipe was published in the cookbook America's Best Recipes, by Peter Hanley. Grace was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, in Laurel, for over 50 years. There, she enjoyed serving as church organist. In her later retirement years, Grace and Howard enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winter months. Her Constant attention to raising her children, such as attending all PTA meetings in the Seaford School District, kept her busy. A member of the "Greatest Generation," Grace will sorely be missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Beverly K. Eisenbrey; and her husband, William Howard "Ike" Eisenbrey. Grace is survived by her five children, Dennis H, Eisenbrey (Cary) of Maryville, Tenn., Diane G. Eisenbrey of Ellendale, Donald R. Eisenbrey of Seaford, Deborah L. Eisenbrey of Bridgeville, and Judith F. Eisenbrey of San Diego, Calif. Her grandsons are Anthony Jones of San Diego and Derek Eisenbrey (Crystal) of Maryville, Tenn. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Justin and Jonathan Eisenbrey of Maryville, Tenn.; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Jones of San Diego, Calif. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Zion United Methodist Church, Seaford-Laurel Highway, Laurel, where friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donation may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, Alt Rt 13, Laurel, DE 19956. Arrangements by Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford.
