GEORGETOWN - Grace Ellen Wingard Lawhead went to Heaven on Nov. 14, 2011. Born on June 21, 1914, in Georgetown, the Good Lord blessed us with her presence for 97 years. Now he has called her. She is survived, and will be so dearly missed by her loving daughter, Sandy Rawlins and husband John of Charlotte, N.C.; nephew, Jimmy Collins and his wife Terry of Georgetown; nieces, Gladys Wooters, Esther Willey, Shirley Dennis; and grandnieces, LeeAnn Troxler and Jessica Rogers, all of Georgetown. Grace was preceded in death by her brothers, Thurman King, and Elwood King; sister, Ruth Collins; Paul Wingard, her husband of 28 years; and husband, Roland Lawhead. In her younger days, Grace loved cooking, sewing and travel. An avid race fan, Grace, her husband Paul and daughter Sandy lived for many years on Rustic Lane in the shadow of Dover Downs Raceway. Talking to her daughter Sandy on the phone everyday, and watching TV, which included racing and reruns of Andy Griffith and Everybody Loves Raymond, and beating her friends at bingo, gave Grace many hours of enjoyment in her twilight years. Grace was a member of Capital Baptist Church in Dover. In God's Arms now Grace... We will miss you. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or traderfh@aol.com.
