Grace B. Roten, 94

Grace B. Roten of Denton died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 in Caroline Nursing Home in Denton. She was 94.

Mrs. Roten was born in Hemlock, N.C., daughter of the late Charlie Columbus Ashley and Lula Mae Roten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Barty Roten, who died March 24, 1971; four brothers, Willey Ashley, Don Ashley, Lacey Ashley and Oscar Ashley; and two sisters, Ethel Richardson and Pearl Weaver.

Mrs. Roten is survived by a son, Wayne C. Ashley of Harwood; a daughter, Betty Jo Miller of Denton; two brothers, Spencer Ashley of Warrensville, N.C. and Reggie Ashley of Chestertown; three sisters, Edna Ashley of Warrensville, Mary Nell Orsborne of Lansing, N.C., Delray Phillips of Landsing; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call today in Ashelawn Memorial Chapel, Jefferson, N.C.

Burial will be in Rich Hill Cemetery, Creston, N.C.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Caroline Hospice Foundation, 613 S. Fifth St., Denton, MD 21629.
