Gordon W. Lamers, 86
DERBY, Kan. - Gordon W. Lamers, of Derby, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2007, in Derby, after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 86.
Gordon, a World War II veteran, bravely served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot in the European Theater. He was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and retired as a lieutenant colonel.
He was a graduate of St. Norbert College in West Des Pere, Wis., and Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
He was an engineer for the Boeing Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
Gordon was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Derby, and the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite; and by six brothers and sisters.
He is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Joseph and Michelle of Middletown, Michael, Phillip and Susan, and Andrew and Heather; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Kevin Kirkpatrick, Maureen Swope and Stan, and Jennifer Pathak and Ravi; one sister, Irma Van Toll; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Ridge Road, Linwood, Pa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
