DOVER - Gloria S. Gray passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Capitol Nursing Home, Dover surrounded by her family. Gloria was born on December 25, 1924 to the late Tim and Lula Spayd. She attended Caesar Rodney High School and worked for Playtex until retiring after 35 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by sisters, June Waller, Evelyn Forbes, Deedle King, and a brother Eugene Spayd. Gloria is survived by her son Larry D. Gray and wife Sue of Camden, a daughter Sharon G. Simmons and husband Earl F. Simmons of Camden; five grandchildren, David F. Simmons and Julie Perez of Dover, Deborah Gumpman and her husband Joe of Harrington, Kristin Subrick and husband James of Lewes, Laurie Hake and husband Dave of Camden, and Brooke Bembenek and husband Troy of Camden, seven great grandchildren; Samantha and Joey Gumpman of Harrington, Adam, Addison, Andrew, and Anna Hake of Camden, Cole Bembenek of Camden and one great great granddaughter, Ayva Gumpman of Harrington. She also leaves behind one sister, Gertrude Johnson of Seattle, Washington and her extended family, the nurses and aides on Scott Wing at Capitol Nursing Home who cared for her for many years. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
