Gloria 'Jean' King, 44

FELTON - Gloria "Jean" King, of Felton, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was 44.

She was born June 30, 1962, in Milford, daughter of the late William Grunden and Mary Sapp.

Mrs. King received her master's degree in childhood education from Wilmington College in 2002, and had been a teacher in the Lake Forest School District.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and teacher, who was especially fond of moments spent supporting her children at their sporting events. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives were affected by her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wesley William King; her mother-in-law, Gertrude King; and a brother, Jerry Lee Grunden.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, William K. King of Felton; two sons, Logan K. King and Taylor A. King, both of Felton; a sister and her husband, Terry Demby and Tim Stevens of Frederica; three brothers and their wives, William and Jo Ellen Grunden and Randall and Jennifer Grunden, all of Camden; and Richard and Peggy Grunden of Harrington; and two special sisters-in-law, Cindy King of Bowie, Md., and Kathy Cripps of Milford.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South State Street, Dover.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

After the burial will be a reception in the hall of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St., Harrington.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plains, IL 60018; or Heartland Hospice, 5661 Ocheltree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
