DENTON, Md. - Gladys E. Steward of Denton died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Caroline Home for Hospice, Denton. She was 86.
Mrs. Steward was born in Talbot County, near Easton, daughter of the late Clarence Wooters and Anita Eberhardt Wooters.
She was a graduate of Easton High School.
Mrs. Steward was a private sitter in the Denton area for 12 years and worked at the Caroline Nursing Home until retiring in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Steward in Oct. 1977; two sisters, Anita Bartholomy and Muriel Williams; and a brother, Alfred Wooters.
She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, B. Joan and Ernest T. Harris of Denton; a son, John Earl Steward Jr. of Federalsburg; four grandchildren and their spouses, Wendy and Dan Melvin, Marty and Laura Harris, Donnie and Stephanie Harris, and Jason and Shannon Steward; four sisters, Patricia Baker of Greenwood, Del., Eleanor Plagge of St. Michaels, Naomi LaBombard of Cordova, and Hazel Natale of Easton; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Caroline Nursing Home, 520 Kerr Ave., Denton, MD 21629; or Caroline Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
