Gilbert F. Mabrey

CLAYTON - Gilbert F. Mabrey, of Clayton, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 83. Mr. Mabrey was born April 1, 1928, in Millington, Md., to the late John B. and Elizabeth Voshell Mabrey. He was a lifelong farmer and a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Elzada Conley Mabrey; a son, Jerry Walter; three brothers, John B. Mabrey, James M. Mabrey, and William C. Mabrey; and a sister, Julia Faust. He is survived by two sons, Gilbert L. Mabrey and his wife Debbi, and David K. Mabrey and his wife Amy; and a daughter, Diane E. Carson and her husband Gary all from Clayton; two sisters, Catherine Meyers of Magnolia and Agnes Carrow of Smyrna; grandchildren, Kevin, David, Marie, Chuck, Ashley and Eric; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Wesley, Justin, Madison, Joshua, Gavin, and Molly. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904 or to the American Legion Ambulance Service, 111 West Glenwood Ave. Smyrna, DE 19977.
