CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Gertrude Graves of Chestertown died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 93.
Ms. Graves was born Dec. 28, 1912, in Kent County.
She received her education in Johnsontown.
She was employed from 1958 to 2004 by the family of George and Finney Johnson, whom she truly loved.
Ms. Graves was a devoted, faithful and active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as a communion steward. She enjoyed church events and rarely missed the opportunity to fellowship with her church family and other neighboring churches.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Graves; and a niece, Margaret Thompson.
She is survived by a niece, Alfreda Graves of Chestertown; six great-nieces, Audrina Graves of Chestertown, Sheila Hoxter of Florida, Patty Hoxter and Carol Hoxter, both of Chestertown, Jean Thompson of Baltimore County and Janet Thompson of Chestertown; three great-nephews and a great-niece-in-law, James and Martha Thompson and William Thompson III, all of Chestertown and James Hoxter of Dover, Del.; and a host of great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be noon Tuesday in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Friends may also call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the church.
Burial will be in Pomona Cemetery, Chestertown.
