LINCOLN - Gerald Eugene "Jerry" Leichliter went to be with the Lord while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Gerald was born in Milford the son of Anita and Bud Leichliter. He was a graduate of Milford High School and attended Salisbury State University before graduating from Delaware State University with a BA in Business Management. After graduation, Jerry went to work as an Assistant Manager at Sears in Dover, then as a Buyer and Department Manager for Leggetts in Milford, then as a Manager at Save-A-Lot in Milford. At the time of his death, he was currently working as a Field Team Leader for Impact Resources, traveling from Texas to New York State for the company. Jerry was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Milford. He enjoyed working with his hands. Jerry was a very quiet, pleasant man, and was known for his glowing smile and his love of food. He is survived by his parents, Anita and Bud Leichliter, of Milford; a sister, Cindy Schaap and her husband Bob, of Milford; his paternal grandmother, Nellie Leichliter, of McClellandtown, Pa.; niece, Kristin Schaap, of Milford; nephew, Airman First Class Leland Schaap, of Fla.; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved pet Tiger. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 from noon to 1 p.m. where services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front Street, Milford, DE 19963; to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 - 1718.
