Milford - Gerald D. McMillan passed away on Monday April 7, 2014 at Bay Health Milford Hospital after a short illness. He was born on May 28, 1924 in Wilson, NC. Mr. McMillian spent most of his working life as a shop manager with the University of Delaware Carpentry Shop. He was affiliated with an RV club, the 'Shanty Shakers'. He served his local AARP organization for many years. Known as a talented handyman by all those who loved him, Mr. McMillan also enjoyed carpentry, wood working, duck carving, hunting, and fishing. Mr. McMillan is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Clay, Sr. and Margaret Loretta (Garvey) McMillan. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Ellen. Mr. McMillan is survived by his daughter: Joanne M. Reinbold and her Husband Carl of Wilmington, DE, and his grandson, Justin Dortwegt. He was the youngest of ten children and is survived by one of his sisters, Margaret Kennedy. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963. A visitation will be held that same day one hour prior to services. Interment will immediately follow the service at New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery in New London, PA.
