WILMINGTON - Mrs. Georgia M. Starkey, of Wilmington, died on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, in Wilmington Hospital. She was 87.
Born in Bridgetown, Md., on Oct. 23, 1920, Mrs. Starkey was the daughter of the late Jenny and George Marvel.
She was employed for over 25 years as a personnel clerk in the dietary department of the former Wilmington Medical Center before her retirement in 1986.
For her many years of service, she was awarded membership in the 25 Year Club at Christiana Care.
An animal lover throughout her life, Mrs. Starkey was devoted to her pet dog, Spike.
Most of all, she delighted in spending time with her beloved family and will be long remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Her husband, William T. Starkey, died in 1985.
She is survived by her two children, George M. Baynard and wife Rose Ann, and Marianne Murch and husband Joseph, all of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Cynthia Thompsen, Michael Baynard, Melissa Murch, Susan Baynard-Wierzbicki, Patricia Murch and William Baynard; and two great-granddaughters, Emily Ann Baynard and Emily Virginia Baynard.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
