CHURCH HILL, Md. - Georgia Ann Starkey, 83, of Church Hill, died May 20, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Starkey was born on Sept. 24, 1925, in Centreville, daughter of the late George and Sadie Beck Stowman. She was a lifetime resident of Queen Anne's where she raised her family. Mrs. Starkey was a life member of Millington VFW Post 652, and a member of the Chestertown American Legion Post 36. She enjoyed crabbing, cooking, the slots and Crumpton sale. Mrs. Starkey is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bowen Starkey; five children, Loretta Reynolds and Charles Starkey both of Church Hill, Linda Gustafson and her husband Lee of Ingleside, Nancy Roe and her husband Buddy of Goldsboro, and Edward Starkey and his fiancée Kim of Chestertown; a sister, Sadie Hastings of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Amy Geisel, Jack Gustafson, Richard Gustafson and Buddy Roe; three step-grandchildren, Laura Johnson, Ronald W. Roe Jr., and Michael Gustafson; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24 in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena. Memorials may be offered to Chester River Home Care and Hospice, 6602 Church Hill Rd., Chestertown, MD 21620.
