SEAFORD - George Wallace Beckman, of Seaford, passed away Dec. 3, 2008. He was 93. He was born in Springfield, Mass., on April 19, 1915, the son of Esther and George Anderson Beckman. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Signe Ingeborg Beckman; and his sister, Doris Beckman Wolf. George was an Eagle Scout. He became a Metallurgical Eng. with his education from UMass., MIT and Lehigh Univ.(Masters). From Scripts he earned a Degree in Meteorology. While a LtJG in the Navy during World War II, his forecasts from the Aleutians were used to determine military flights. George retired from DuPont where he utilized his skills as metallurgist in the manufacture of nylon. George married Signe March 18, 194 in Springfield, Mass., and led an adventurous life with travel and sailing. Playing his violin was also a lifelong passion. At the end of his life he took care of Signe who was decimated by Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by his three daughters, Virginia Brown, Ingrid Wright, and Nan Zamorski and his two granddaughters, Kirstin and Stefie Zamorski. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, Cranston Funeral Home will hold services at 3 p.m., at 300 N. Shipley St. Seaford. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of the Piedmont, P.O.
