MILFORD - George S. Williams, of Milford, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Kent General Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center. She was 93. Mr. Williams was born in Milford, the son of the late William D. and Clara P. Williams. He was a graduate of Milford High School as salutorian in 1933. He worked for the C. Edgar Wood Insurance Agency from 1934 to his retirement in 1978. He was a U.S. Army veteran with 5 years service mostly outside the United States. George was an avid roller skater from 1948 until he was 80 years old. He was an amatuer radio operator since 1949, using the call letters W3PVO. He also liked cats. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Milford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Dick Williams and his wife Anne. He is survived by his nephew, Richard Williams, Jr. and his wife Ann of Lincoln; a great- niece Vicky Arlene Williams of Eugene, Ore.; a cousin, Skip Donovan, of Lincoln and his close friend Doris Greenly Williams of Eugene. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, where friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Clendaniel Pond Road, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S. E. Front Street, Milford, DE 19963.
